Executive Coaching

Cultivate greater self-awareness, access your deeper wisdom, strengthen your courage to act.

Purpose

I have a passion for coaching business leaders under pressure to build their businesses, develop their teams, delight their customers, and achieve results.  My philosophy is that centered, inspirational, and collaborative leadership is the key ingredient to a successful organization.  Leaders who aren’t realizing their potential are holding back themselves, their teams, and their companies.

Every leader has untapped potential that can be released through a safe and trusted relationship with a seasoned coach.  Through a committed coaching process, leaders establish their goals, open themselves to valuable input from others, and uncover hidden strengths and areas for improvement that can make a significant difference in their performance and personal satisfaction.  Coaching offers a valuable gift of self-discovery and insight that can be the most powerful and rewarding experience a leader can pursue.

I specialize in working with senior leaders and business owners who have progressed rapidly in their careers and are now in need of more sophisticated leadership approaches for remaining centered, inspiring others, building their organizations, managing stress, and driving for results. I am particularly well suited to coach investors, and senior leaders in investor-backed companies given my background in private equity investing, start-up company capital raising, and other buy- and sell-side M&A activities.

Increase mental awareness, remain calm in the face of stressful situations, inspire your team.

Approach

Every coaching engagement is unique and is custom tailored. My typical coaching approach is focused first on establishing a trusted rapport while identifying key challenges and desired outcomes for the executive and their organization. Where appropriate, I employ a discovery process with my client to obtain feedback from key stakeholders. We may also use personal assessment tools for clients to self-reflect on their leadership approaches and results. Together we evaluate the feedback and sensitively identify key insights into desired behavioral changes and create a leadership development plan.

The coaching process continues with regular coaching sessions focused on insightful articles, tools, and techniques – combined with committed exercises and practice. The coaching engagement concludes with a post coaching check-in with my client and key stakeholder and repeating assessments where appropriate to gage progress. The leadership development plan is refined with commitment to further goals as desired.

Centeredness for Inspirational Leadership

Bain & Company, a global leadership consultancy, conducted extensive research that determined that “inspired employees are more than twice as productive as satisfied employees” and Centeredness is the most important attribute (among the 33 most important leadership behaviors) for inspiring and motivating employees.

Reference: How Leaders Inspire: Cracking the Code, Bain & Company

Bain defines Centeredness as a state of mindfulness, achieved by engaging all parts of the mind to become fully present. This capability is fundamental to leadership as it improves one’s ability to stay cool under pressure, think clearly, listen more intently, understand sensitive situations more fully, and empathize with others. It helps leaders overcome a natural tendency to be emotionally reactive and thoughtfully respond to stressful situations. The result is employees who are more inspired, energized, motivated, engaged, and committed to the organization’s purpose and goals.

Positive Intelligence

I’ve completed the Positive Intelligence Coaches’ Program and am now a Positive Intelligence Coach.

Positive Intelligence is a neuroscience-based centeredness approach for catching yourself in limiting thoughts and training your mind to quickly shift into a more positive approach to day-day events and challenges. These reactive thought patterns (originating from stresses from our childhood) sabotage our emotions, sap our energy and inspiration, keep us from achieving our goals, and can leave us feeling energetically drained and unfulfilled. The program is based on regular daily mindfulness practices that increase your mental awareness, calm your emotional state, and strengthen your ability to “self-command” in a more productive and positive direction. The result is dramatically improved performance, greater well-being and joy, and deeper, more fulfilling relationships.

Positive Intelligence helps you shift your mindset from judgement, anxiety, disappointment, guilt, and blame to curiosity, creativity, excitement, and resolute action. It has profound application in both your personal and professional life. It can have benefits with stress management, conflict management, interpersonal relationships, inspirational leadership, performance management, innovation and creativity, and numerous other areas.

Working with Brian has helped me immensely! The Positive Intelligence method has altered the way I see and think about myself and others, for the better. I have been able to stay more positive, more productive, and more creative in the challenges of my business and my life. Brian has been an amazing guide and endlessly supportive. His time and attention has reflected back to me a clearer version of myself, and how I may move forward with more efficiency, innovation, and grace.
